MLV Empire / Asli Dine / Offline POS

Keeps billing when the internet drops.

Restaurant POS in Malaysia · Asli Dine · quoted per outlet

Updated

Asli Dine is a restaurant POS that keeps taking counter payments when the internet drops: each sale is saved on the till and synced, with its official bill number, when the line comes back. Most Malaysian F&B POS plans we checked start at RM99–RM158 a month and then charge again for the kitchen display (Qashier: +RM30 a month per screen) and QR ordering (+RM60). Asli Dine includes the kitchen display, has no per-device fee, and is quoted per outlet in writing.

What works offline — exactly

Every POS vendor we looked at says “works offline”. None we found publishes what that means. This is what Asli Dine does today when the till cannot reach the server — taken from the product’s code, not a brochure.

Keeps working

With the internet down

  • Opening the POS on a till that has used it before — the app, menu, prices and floor plan are kept on the device.
  • Ringing up and taking payment for takeaway, delivery and pay-at-counter orders — cash, card or QR. Card and QR run on your own bank terminal or DuitNow standee; Asli Dine records how the bill was paid.
  • A provisional bill on screen for the guest, without an official number yet.
  • A red banner saying the till is offline and how many sales are waiting.
  • Spotting “Wi-Fi up, internet down” — the till checks the server itself every 20 seconds instead of trusting the Wi-Fi icon.
Waits for the connection

Then catches up

  • Kitchen display and kitchen tickets for offline sales — they reach the kitchen when the sale syncs. Tell the kitchen by hand in the meantime.
  • Printing — the print agent collects jobs from the server, so receipts and kitchen tickets resume when the line is back.
  • Dine-in “send to kitchen” and settling a table tab — ring these up as counter sales during an outage.
  • QR ordering at the table — the guest’s phone talks to the server.
  • Other tills, reports and the owner’s view — they see offline sales after sync.
When the line comes back

Nothing lost, nothing doubled

  • Automatic sync, oldest sale first, showing the official bill numbers given out so you can reprint proper bills.
  • Gapless numbering. Only the server issues bill numbers, so two tills can never print the same one.
  • No duplicates. Each sale carries a unique key; a retry returns the original order instead of a second order, ticket and stock deduction.
  • Rejections are flagged, not lost. If the server refuses a queued sale — for example a price above the current menu — it is parked with “tell your manager”.
  • One caution: offline sales live on the till that rang them up. Don’t clear that browser’s data before it has synced.

What the add-ons cost elsewhere

Headline prices look close. The difference is what is extra: the kitchen screen, QR ordering, more devices, and whose card terminal you must use.

The fair exception: StoreHub says its base price already includes the kitchen display and QR Order & Pay. If you want one published price and are happy with one register per store, it is a straightforward choice.
A worked example: on Qashier, POS + kitchen display + QR ordering + GrabFood/foodpanda integration comes to RM158 + RM30 + RM60 + RM80 = RM328 a month for one kitchen screen, before payment fees.
On payment fees: DuitNow QR’s 0.25% merchant fee is being waived by major banks (Maybank, Public Bank, CIMB, Bank Islam) for small merchants, according to Vulcan Post. A POS that routes payments through its own rail at 0.5–0.8% costs more than a bank QR standee.
If you only need a simple till: LHDN offers a free MyInvois e-POS, as SAYS reported. Asli Dine does not submit e-invoices to MyInvois. It is for running the kitchen, tables and stock as well as the counter.

Frequently asked questions

Q.01Does Asli Dine work without internet?

Yes, for counter sales. On a till that has opened the POS before, you can ring up takeaway, delivery and pay-at-counter orders and take payment with no internet. Each sale is saved on that till and synced automatically when the connection returns, oldest first.

Q.02What does not work while the internet is down?

The kitchen display, printed kitchen tickets and receipts from the print agent, dine-in “send to kitchen”, settling a table tab, and QR ordering at the table all need the connection. Offline sales reach the kitchen screen, the printers and the reports when they sync. During an outage, ring orders up as counter sales and tell the kitchen by hand.

Q.03How are bill numbers handled offline?

An offline sale gets a provisional bill with no official number. The server gives out official bill numbers in sequence when the sale syncs, and the till shows you the numbers it was given so you can reprint proper bills. This is deliberate: two tills inventing numbers offline would create duplicates or gaps.

Q.04Can a sale be recorded twice if the connection flickers?

No. Every sale carries a unique key. If the till retries after a dropped connection, the server returns the original order instead of creating a second one, so there is no double charge, double kitchen ticket or double stock deduction.

Q.05Is the kitchen display an extra monthly fee?

No. The kitchen display is included in an Asli Dine outlet quote, and there is no per-device fee for extra tills or kitchen screens. Elsewhere it is often an add-on: Qashier lists KDS at +RM30 a month per device, and Eats365 lists modules such as KDS and QR ordering from RM69 a month each.

Q.06How much does Asli Dine cost?

Asli Dine is quoted per outlet, in writing, before you commit, in ringgit and invoiced by MLV Empire. SST is added where it applies. We do not publish a price; ask for a quote or write to hello@mlvempire.my.
